Chelsea and Manchester City are scouting 25-year-old AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi ahead of a potential summer transfer.

According to Le Parisien, Chelsea and Manchester City are keen on having Axel Disasi in their ranks. Both the Premier League clubs had sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old over the weekend. They have been linked with the France international for a while now and might make a move in the summer.

Disasi came into the limelight after his heroics for Stade Reims. His performances for the club resulted in a move to AS Monaco in the summer of 2020. The 25-year-old has since gone from strength to strength and established himself as an important first-team player. His performances at the club level resulted in a late call-up to the French squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The former Reims defender has been involved in 121 matches for Monaco and has 16 goal contributions. He has been a rock in the centre of the park and his performances have improved further in the ongoing campaign. The French centre-back has been involved in ten goals in his 41 outings in the current campaign.

His stocks have risen significantly of late and a lot of clubs are set to battle it out for his services. The 25-year-old has also talked about the desire of moving to a bigger club to stand a chance to be a regular for his national team.

Chelsea and Manchester City are two big clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The Blues might have signed multiple defenders in the last few windows but at the end of the day, they still rely on Thiago Silva. The Brazil defender is already 38, and they need to figure out who will pair up with Kalidou Koulibaly in the heart of the defence.

The London club like what they have seen of Disasi and are ready to push for his signatures in the summer. However, they will face tough competition from Manchester City who had also sent representatives to watch the 25-year-old play.

While the Manchester-based club are in no desperate need to sign a new defender, they love what they have seen of the French international. And, it won’t be a surprise if they go all out to land him at the club. Pep Guardiola’s men believe in signing the best possible talent available. And, the 25-year-old surely has it in him to be a regular in Guardiola’s team.
