Tottenham have entered the chase for £50 million-rated English winger Harvey Barnes, with Newcastle United also interested.

According to Football Insider, Harvey Barnes could open a transfer battle for his signature next summer. Tottenham are the latest team to show interest in the £50 million-rated English winger, with Newcastle United already plotting a move.

Leicester City’s season has gone off the boil in the last few weeks as they look like relegation favourites. The Foxes have not had the best season, and the departure of Brendan Rodgers this late in the season may end up costing them a place in the top flight next term.

Dean Smith has come in Rodgers’s place. And given the poor record of the former Aston Villa and Norwich City boss, things look bleak at the King Power. Irrespective of their top-flight status beyond the current season, Leicester could lose many top-rated players.

Youri Tielemans will depart as a free agent, while there are doubts about James Maddison and Harvey Barnes. The latter duo represent two highly-rated stars as Premier League clubs circle for their signatures.

Tottenham are already stepping up their pursuit of Maddison and could look to take Barnes as well. The £50 million-rated English winger could become a good option for any top-six league club keen to strengthen their wide attacking areas.

Barnes has already scored ten league goals this season and could finish with more to help the Foxes stay afloat. Tottenham are in the market for a new winger who could improve their attacking setup. Son Heung-min has had a season to forget, and Spurs could look to move on from the South Korean.

Someone like Barnes could challenge Son for a place in the starting lineup. Tottenham will have to pay £50 million for Barnes, who has a long-term deal in place with Leicester. The money won’t prove problematic. But the competition from Newcastle could.

Newcastle are keen on Barnes and will look to sign him, particularly if Leicester go down. The Magpies are looking to revamp their attacking line, with many of their current stars having a doubtful future. Someone like Barnes could improve Eddie Howe’s ideas for his attack, and he could make him a better player.

As things stand, Tottenham and Newcastle United seem like the battlers for his signature. With the £50 million-rated English winger reportedly looking for a new challenge, a team with European football on offer could prove the best step forward for his career.
