Tottenham Hotspur are set to go all out to acquire the services of Leicester City star James Maddison, who is on the radar of Newcastle United.
According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham are keen on having James Maddison in their ranks. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is a highly sought-after player at this point in time. And, he is expected to be on the move in the summer, given the amount of interest in him.
Maddison started off at Coventry City before making a move to Norwich. The Leicester midfielder enjoyed quite a few years at Norwich City, came through their ranks and made a name for himself. He eventually joined the Foxes in the summer of 2018.
The 26-year-old has since featured in 196 matches and has over 90 goal contributions. The England international has found the back of the net on 54 occasions for the Foxes.
As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the former Norwich midfielder has 15 goal contributions in his 25 outings. Maddison has been a consistent performer for the team in blue despite their ongoing struggles in the English top flight.
His contract with the Foxes ends in the summer of 2024. And, with just over a year left in his contract, the club has no other options than to listen to offers in the upcoming window. They will accept a bid of around £50 million as per reports as they do not want to risk losing him for free in a year’s time.
Meanwhile, Spurs are pushing hard for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder’s signature. While they still have a managerial appointment to make, the club will not wait for their new manager to decide whether to sign him or not.
They are desperate to add a new attacking midfielder, it has been a priority for the club for a while now. And, they will go all out to land him at the club. However, they could face tough competition from Newcastle United. The Magpies are also keen on having Maddison in their ranks.
Eddie Howe’s men are looking to sign a new midfielder as they look to push for the league title next season. They have done great in the ongoing season and his addition will further bolster their squad. With Spurs willing to push hard for his signatures, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
