Manchester United are looking to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch but will face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Ryan Gravenberch could be on his way out of Bayern Munich at the end of the season. And the Dutchman is a target for Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
The 20-year-old midfielder completed an €18.5 million move to Bayern Munich last summer, and he would have expected to play regularly with them. Julian Nagelsmann clearly did not fancy the Dutchman, who started just once in the league under the former Bayern Munich manager.
The change in manager has not helped Gravenberch either. He is yet to get consistent opportunities under Thomas Tuchel. It will be interesting to see if Tuchel is willing to let the player leave at the end of the season.
Right now, Gravenberch is clearly not an important first-team player for Bayern Munich. So it would make sense for them to cash in on the player. Manchester United are looking to add depth to their squad, and Gravenberch would be the ideal long-term replacement for Scott McTominay, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has worked under Erik ten Hag during their time together at Ajax, and the Manchester United manager clearly rates the 20-year-old highly. A reunion at Old Trafford would be ideal for all parties. The Manchester United manager could help the 20-year-old get back to his best and fulfil his potential with regular playing time.
Gravenberch needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and he cannot afford to sit on the bench at Bayern. Meanwhile, Liverpool are in need of midfield reinforcements as well. Jurgen Klopp is set to lose a number of players as free agents. And established stars like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have regressed significantly.
Liverpool need to bring in multiple midfield signings, and Gravenberch is likely to get ample game time at Anfield. It will be interesting to see what the 20-year-old Dutchman decides at the end of the season. The player has been linked with Arsenal as well. And with Mikel Arteta keen on beefing up his squad, the 20-year-old Dutch midfielder is a viable target for Arsenal.
Manchester United have more finances compared to Liverpool, and they are likely to play in the Champions league next season. The Reds are currently eighth in the league table, and there is a high chance they could miss out on a top-four finish.
