Serie A heavyweights Juventus will reportedly look to sign Barcelona’s €55 million signing Ferran Torres to replace Angel Di Maria.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Ferran Torres is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants want the Barcelona attacker to replace World Cup winner Angel Di Maria. It will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants look to recoup the €55 million they paid to sign him.

Ferran Torres has endured a topsy-turvy ride during his short playing career thus far. The Spanish international made his professional life with Valencia after graduating from Los Che’s academy. And after a few years with Valencia, he joined Manchester City in August 2020. But his stint with the Premier League champions lasted only 18 months as he joined Barcelona last year.

The Blaugrana paid €55 million to secure Torres’s services, which seemed like a fair price. But the 23-year-old has struggled to stamp his authority and has been a backup option for Xavi Hernandez. And his tally of six goals and two assists in 37 appearances is unimpressive, to say the least. But the player’s stock remains high, with Juventus keen on signing him.

The Serie A giants are in the market for a wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding Angel Di Maria. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner might end his spell with Juventus after just one year. And the Bianconeri will need a top-class replacement to fill Di Maria’s void at the Allianz Stadium.

In addition, Federico Chiesa faces an uncertain future at the Serie A club. With several top clubs keen on signing the Italian international, he might leave in the summer transfer window. Ferran Torres has thus emerged as a viable target for Juventus. And moving to Italy might be the ideal decision for the Barcelona attacker.

The Serie A giants view Torres, whose best performances come on the right flank, as the long-term replacement for Di Maria. Interestingly, the World Cup winner has been a target for Barcelona for nearly a year. As for the 23-year-old, the Catalan giants are ready to cash in on him.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona will look to recoup the €55 million they paid to sign Torres. For now, the Spaniard is on the chopping block at Spotify Camp Nou. And a move to Juventus is seemingly on the cards as he looks to resurrect his stuttering career.
