Liverpool are no longer interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, who will be a free agent in the summer.
According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are no longer keen on having Youri Tielemans in their ranks. The Merseyside club have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Leicester City midfielder for a while now, but they have decided to drop their interest. Jurgen Klopp’s team no longer consider him as an option and will not push for his signatures in the summer.
Tielemans came into the limelight after his heroics for the French club Monaco. After a few impressive seasons in France, Leicester City decided to bring the 25-year-old to England. He has since gone from strength to strength.
The Belgium international has featured in a total of 187 matches and has 53 goal contributions for the Foxes. He has been a great servant for the club and is amongst their best players. While Leicester have struggled in the ongoing season, Tielemans has still managed to produce consistent performances at the centre of the park.
The 25-year-old midfielder’s contract with the Foxes ends in the upcoming summer. While the club did try their best to pen a new contract with the player, he is not willing to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium. The former AS Monaco midfielder will be a free agent soon and will decide his next move after the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool were keen on signing the Belgian international. They have underperformed in the ongoing season and the majority of it has been because of an inconsistent midfield. Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a major overhaul in the centre of the park.
Tielemans was one of the names on their list of potential targets. And, the fact that he would come for free was a bonus on top. However, as per the latest reports, the club are no longer interested in the 25-year-old.
The recruitment team of Liverpool have analysed the player. And, they believe he is not a perfect fit for the club. They consider him to not be mobile enough to fit into Klopp’s system and as a result, they will drop their interest. And, shift their focus towards Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount who are at the top of their transfer target list.
