Barcelona will reportedly look to engineer a part-exchange deal to sign Atletico Madrid veteran Yannick Carrasco this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Yannick Carrasco is a target for Barcelona. The Catalan giants have the option to sign the Atletico Madrid veteran for €15 million in the summer transfer window. But the Blaugrana will look to negotiate a part-exchange deal, bringing several players to the table.

Yannick Carrasco has enjoyed two superb stints with Atletico Madrid, winning the Europa League and La Liga titles with them. The Belgian international has been a regular on the left flank in both spells, with the latest beginning in September 2020.

The 29-year-old has been in and out of the side this term owing to Atletico Madrid’s inconsistent displays. But he has a decent tally of six goals and two assists in 33 outings across all competitions. However, Carrasco’s time at Atletico Madrid might end in the summer, with Barcelona keen on signing him.

Barcelona considered signing Carrasco in the January transfer window, but a move did not materialise. However, the Blaugrana negotiated the option to sign the Atletico Madrid veteran for €15 million when the two clubs struck a deal for Memphis Depay. And recent reports have claimed that the player is keen on joining Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are also reportedly prioritising a summer move for the 29-year-old. And the interest in the experienced wide man is understandable, considering the lack of reliable wide attackers. And with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres facing uncertain futures at Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona can do with securing Carrasco’s services.

Meanwhile, Torres will be one of the players on offer for a part-exchange deal heading into the summer transfer window. Barcelona cannot afford to pay €15 million to sign the Belgian attacker. And they will look to offer a player to secure Carrasco’s services ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Eric Garcia, Ez Abde, and Sergino Dest might also come to the table to discuss a part-exchange deal. That said, it is unclear if Atletico Madrid will be open to such an arrangement to swap Carrasco’s services. But with Los Rojiblancos also in financial peril, the two parties might well bring multiple players to the table.
