Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is reportedly dreaming about joining Barcelona this summer amid interest from Liverpool.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Sofyan Amrabat wants to join Barcelona to achieve his lifelong dream. The Fiorentina midfielder is also a target for Liverpool over a move in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, La Viola will look to tie the Moroccan international to a new contract in the coming weeks.

Sofyan Amrabat has seen his stock skyrocket since Morocco’s phenomenal campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 26-year-old was a vital cog in Walid Regragui’s formidable unit that reached the semi-finals. And he has seen several European bigwigs join the race to sign him since then.

The Moroccan international was already a target for clubs like Tottenham. But high-profile outfits like Barcelona and Liverpool are now keen on securing his services. Meanwhile, Amrabat has been a regular for Fiorentina this term, turning out 37 times across all competitions. And La Viola will look to tie the player to a long-term contract.

Barcelona will scour the market for a long-term successor to Sergio Busquets in the coming weeks. The veteran midfielder is in the twilight of his career and slowing down with age. And Busquets might end his long and illustrious stint with Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Amrabat has thus emerged as a potential priority target for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window. And the Moroccan midfield general dreams about joining the Blaugrana when he leaves Fiorentina. But the Catalan giants face stiff competition from Liverpool for the player.

Liverpool, like Barcelona, also entertained the idea of signing Amrabat in the January transfer window. But Fiorentina did not entertain any bids for the 26-year-old. The Reds’ interest in the player stems from Fabinho’s regressing performance levels. In addition, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is approaching the final phase of his memorable career.

But Liverpool will face two obstacles while pursuing Amrabat. Firstly, the Moroccan international is keen on joining Barcelona. Secondly, Fiorentina will look to fend off his suitors by tying him to a new contract. So it will be interesting to see if a summer move materialises for the player.
