Manchester City have been linked with a move for the German midfielder Florian Wirtz at the end of the season.

A report from 90min claims that Manchester City will face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Florian Wirtz.

The 19-year-old has made quite a name for himself with his performances in the Bundesliga this season and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for all three Premier League clubs.

Manchester City need to add more depth to their side and Wirtz could prove to be a solid long-term investment especially if Bernardo Silva moves on at the end of the season. The Portuguese international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Furthermore, players like Jack Grealish have not been able to live up to the expectations since joining the club and Wirtz could be a useful alternative for Pep Guardiola.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been overly dependent on Martin Odegaard this season and the Norwegian has certainly delivered. He has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the league but the Gunners cannot expect him to play every game next season, especially with Champions League football returning to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta needs to bring in another quality playmaker, and the 19-year-old German certainly fits the profile. As for Tottenham, they need to add craft and goals in the middle of the park and Wirtz seems like the ideal acquisition.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to sack Antonio Conte before the end of the season. The new manager will also play a key role in Tottenham’s pursuit of the 19-year-old. The midfielder will not want to join a club without stability and appointing a quality manager could be the key to convincing the youngster to join the club.

The midfielder has contributed to 2 goals and 6 assists across 13 appearances this season and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player. Managers like Arteta and Guardiola could help him improve immensely and develop into a world-class player in the coming seasons.

A number of other European giants are thought to be keeping tabs on the player as well. Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been linked with the player in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see where the 19-year-old ends up eventually.

He has a long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and the German outfit are unlikely to let him leave for cheap. His suitors will have to cough up a substantial amount of money in order to sign him at the end of this season.
