Manchester City will be interested in letting their star midfielder Bernardo Silva leave for Barcelona if Gavi is a part of the deal.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester City want Gavi in order to let Bernardo Silva join Barcelona in the summer. City are interested in having the 18-year-old’s services ahead of next season. And, would be willing to let their star midfielder leave in order to land the Spain international.

Gavi has been a part of the Barcelona youth academy since the summer of 2015. He has gone up the ranks at the club and has become one of their main players at the age of 18.

The Spain international has already made 83 appearances for the Catalan giants and has 15 goal involvements. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 18-year-old has seven goal contributions in 36 matches.

While he is untouchable in the Barcelona setup, there are a few issues regarding his senior team contract. Barcelona are having difficulty registering him in their first team. And, that could be the only possible reason for his departure.

City are aware of the situation as well as the fact that Xavi is keen on having Bernardo Silva in their ranks. They see it as an opportunity for a direct exchange deal involving Gavi and Silva. City will be happy to let their 28-year-old midfielder join Barcelona in return for the 18-year-old.

Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco back in the summer of 2017. He has been one of the most important players for the Manchester-based club since his arrival. Pep Guardiola has relied on the Portugal international to get the job done in big games. And Silva has never disappointed him.

The 28-year-old has expressed his desire of leaving Manchester City for Barcelona. He wants to join the Catalan giants. But, City are not willing to sell him for less than €80 million. But, with Barcelona struggling with finances, they are not in the position to spend a fortune in acquiring Silva.

However, they can use Gavi to land the 28-year-old at the club. Having said that, the deal does not really make sense until and unless the Catalan giants fail to register Gavi in the first team. If fail to register the 18-year-old and are left with no other options, then they might let him leave for City and sign Silva in return.
