Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United could make a move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Lazio might lower his asking price.

According to Fichajes, there’s Premier League interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with Arsenal and Manchester United keen. The 28-year-old Serie A star will enter the final year of his deal as Lazio could reduce his asking price after a visible dip in performances since the World Cup.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could leave Italy in the summer after many successful seasons with Lazio. The Serie A club’s president has long thought about selling the Serbian midfielder but always set a high asking price in return.

After years of links to the Premier League, Milinkovic-Savic could finally get a move as he enters the final year of his deal at Lazio. The Serie A outfit could even reduce their mammoth asking price to facilitate a deal, as they want to use the funds to rebuild their squad.

At one stage, Lazio president Claudio Lotito wanted around €100-120 million for the 28-year-old but could never attract offers close to that sum. After watching his star performer down his tools and put up timid showings since the World Cup, the club supremo could slash the asking price.

The report links Arsenal and Manchester United with a move while insisting Lazio could agree on a sale for around €60 million. While the Premier League clubs may hold interest, they are unlikely to pay that fee. The Serie A side risk letting the player remain at the club, knowing he could depart on a free transfer in 2024.

Arsenal, for instance, are in the market for a new midfielder to occupy the left-eight space. Mikel Arteta likes Milinkovic-Savic and the quality he brings. The Spanish tactician wants to bring competition for places, and the 28-year-old Serie A star’s idea may entice him.

Competing with Arsenal are Newcastle United, who may have the financial capacity to make a sizeable offer. There’s also the threat of Manchester United in the chase for Milinkovic-Savic. Erik ten Hag wants a top option in midfield that he could rely upon to bring in goals.

Ten Hag may like to sign players that would bring immediate success to the club and their growing stature. The Red Devils have similar targets like Harry Kane in mind, but the idea of Milinkovic-Savic may stem from their need for a high-profile midfielder.

The Serbian is the right option for that profile, but the Red Devils are unlikely to pay the reported €60 million asking price. Those Premier League sides could negotiate with Lazio to find an agreement, meaning Milinkovic could move for far less than the report suggests.
