Manchester City are all set to battle it out with rivals Manchester United and Chelsea for the signatures of forward Victor Osimhen.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester City will square up against Manchester United and Chelsea in their quest to acquire the services of Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old has been on fire in the ongoing season and is likely to be the most sought-after player in the summer.

Osimhen has done wonders for Napoli ever since he joined them back in the summer of 2020. The Napoli forward has made a total of 89 appearances and has 63 goal contributions. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 24-year-old has racked up 21 goals in 27 outings.

The Nigerian forward has taken the Serie A by storm by scoring 19 goals in 22 outings. He is leading the race for the golden boot and has been a key force in Napoli’s dominance in the league. The Naples-based outfit have an 18-point lead at the top of the table and are on course to win the league title.

The 24-year-old’s contract at the Italian club runs until the summer of 2025. But, by the look of things he might not be there for the next season. Because a lot of clubs are ready to break the bank to land the Nigerian star forward at their club.

Meanwhile, City, United and Chelsea are interested to have the 24-year-old in their ranks. Pep Guardiola’s team already have two top-class forwards Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. As a result, it doesn’t really make sense for them to push for the Napoli striker.

While Alvarez is set to sign a new deal, Haaland’s future is not that certain. If in case he leaves, Osimhen could be a great replacement for the 22-year-old.

United on the other hand are in desperate need of a new number nine. Anthony Martial has struggled with injuries while Wout Weghorst is set to return to his parent club in the summer. And, Ten Hag is keen to have a world-class forward who can share the goal-scoring load with Marcus Rashford.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they haven’t been clinical in front of goal this season. Despite signing a lot of attacking and creative players, the end product is missing. They need a new goal scorer and the club is keen on having the 24-year-old.

With a lot of players likely to leave in the summer, they will have enough money to price him away. Osimhen will be spoilt for choices in the summer and it will be interesting to see where he ends up playing his football next season.
