Denzel Dumfries has been linked with a summer move away from Inter Milan, with Manchester United interested in him.

A report from Football Insider claims that Manchester United could return for Denzel Dumfries at the end of the season. And they will need to pay around £40-50 million to sign the Dutch international defender.

Apparently, Manchester United tried to sign the 26-year-old in January. But they could not arrange the funds for his transfer. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains an admirer of the player. And it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can get a deal done in the coming months.

The player has been linked with Chelsea as well. But the Blues are unlikely to make a move for him especially after agreeing on a deal to sign Malo Gusto from Lyon. Inter Milan are thought to be under financial stress right now and could look to cash in on some of their first-team stars if a good offer is presented.

The report from Football Insider claims that a bid of around £40-50 million could be enough to sign Dumfries at the end of the season. The 26-year-old is not the only Inter Milan player linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

Players like Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alessandro Bastoni have been linked with moves as well. Meanwhile, Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij are expected to move on as free agents.

Manchester United already have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as they are right-backs. However, the former Crystal Palace defender has been largely underwhelming, and he is a backup option to Dalot.

He needs to leave the club to play regularly. And it will not be surprising if Manchester United decide to cash in on him. Dumfries could be the ideal replacement for Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford next season.

Manchester United need to add more depth and quality to their side in order to compete on all fronts. And a player like Dumfries could prove to be a useful squad player. But it will be interesting to see if they are ready to invest £40-50 million to secure his services.
