La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly considering a Bosman move for 25-year-old Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Youri Tielemans is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 25-year-old playmaker will likely leave Premier League club Leicester City as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

Youri Tielemans has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Leicester City. The Foxes plucked him from a frustrating stint with AS Monaco. And after initially signing him on loan, they completed a permanent move in July 2019. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and delivered the FA Cup title in the 2020/21 season.

The 25-year-old has turned out 187 times thus far for Leicester City, chipping in with 28 goals and 25 assists. But the Belgian international is destined to depart from the King Power Stadium as a free agent. And Tielemans’s situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will look to lay down a succession plan for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the coming months. The two veterans are in the twilight of their careers and will likely call it a day soon. So it behoves Real Madrid to start identifying their successors. And Jude Bellingham has emerged as their top target.

But with Liverpool and Manchester City also keen on signing the Englishman, the Merengues need to have a contingency plan. Bruno Guimaraes is thus the top alternative for Bellingham on Real Madrid’s shortlist. But the versatile Youri Tielemans is also an option worth considering.

The 25-year-old can play as a holding midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder. And Carlo Ancelotti appreciates players who are versatile and can reprise different roles. So the Leicester City playmaker is an attractive target for Real Madrid. But Los Blancos will face stiff competition for Tielemans’s services.

The Belgian international is also a target for other European bigwigs, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona. And it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can beat the competition to secure his services. For now, the 25-year-old looks certain to leave Premier League club Leicester City as a free agent.
