Chelsea are not interested in triggering the €80 million buy-back clause for England international Tammy Abraham.

According to a report by Ben Jacobs via GiveMeSport, Chelsea are not willing to spend €80 million to bring Tammy Abraham back to the club. The England international has been impressive in the last few seasons. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention of late.

Abraham joined AS Roma back in the summer of 2021 for £34 million. He has done a decent job at the Italian club. And, there is an €80 million buy-back clause in his contract. However, Jacobs believes that the Blues are not keen on spending that big a sum to bring back the England international.

Ben Jacobs said: “With Chelsea and Abraham, there is a buy-back clause, which is set at €80m (£71m). That feels like a lot of money.

“It’s not to say that clubs or Chelsea wouldn’t try and get lower or negotiate that, but I don’t see much chance of them just activating that buy-back clause because Chelsea want to try and make the Joao Felix loan deal permanent and then focus on outgoings to work out what’s feasible, both in terms of the finances and also the squad size.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea have had a tough time in the ongoing season. They are currently 10th in the Premier League and have only managed 25 goals in their 25 outings. It has been a disappointing season for Graham Potter’s men. And, he would love to have the 25-year-old at his disposal.

However, the Blues are not willing to break the bank to bring Abraham back to the club. Their priority is to make the Joao Felix loan deal permanent in the summer. Meanwhile, they could still try to negotiate a lower price with Roma for the services of the England international.

Abraham has played 86 matches for the Italian club and has 44 goal contributions to his name. He played an important part in helping them win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season. The 25-year-old scored 9 goals in the competition to guide José Mourinho’s men to the title.

If Chelsea decide against signing Abraham, Manchester United might push for his signatures in the summer. The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new number nine. They have their eyes set on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. If they fail to land either of them, the Red Devils could go all in for Tammy Abraham.

Meanwhile, with Chelsea not willing to spend €80 million on the 25-year-old, it will be interesting to see if they manage to strike a deal at a lower price. However, it won’t be an easy task given the interest from elsewhere.
