Barcelona will not entertain offers for 26-year-old midfielder Franck Kessie amid interest from Tottenham and Inter Milan.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Franck Kessie has become a “non-transferable” entity for Barcelona. The Blaugrana will thus not consider selling the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, he is a target for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan.

Franck Kessie has taken some time to find his feet at FC Barcelona. The Ivory Coast international arrived at Spotify Camp Nou in a Bosman move last summer after his AC Milan contract expired. But he did not set the stage alight, with Xavi Hernandez viewing him as a backup option.

But the 26-year-old has gradually risen in stature, taking advantage of the recent absences of Pedri and Sergio Busquets. The player thus has two goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Kessie’s struggles before the recent run had captured the attention of Tottenham.

Tottenham attempted to sign Kessie in the January transfer window, but a move did not materialise. And while at first glance, the 26-year-old appears to be a square peg in a round hole, he is a viable target. That is because, despite being primarily defensive-minded, he has the qualities to reprise an advanced midfield role.

The Ivory Coast international often essayed the no. 10 role at AC Milan. And his ball-carrying ability means he can be an ideal foil for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. So it is hardly surprising that the Barcelona midfielder remains on Tottenham’s radar over a summer move.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old is also a target for Inter Milan. And reports last month claimed that he was considering joining the Italian club. But Barcelona will not accept any offers for Kessie’s services in the summer transfer window. And they have declared the player as “non-transferable” amid interest from Tottenham.

Barcelona’s stance might also bolster Kessie’s drive to succeed at Spotify Camp Nou. So a summer move might not see the light of day. And it will be interesting to see who becomes the next top midfield target for Tottenham.
