Real Madrid will not fork out €100 million to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, a target for Liverpool.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid will not break the bank to sign Jude Bellingham. Borussia Dortmund will demand at least €100 million for the English midfielder. But the reigning La Liga champions are not ready to pay such a sum for him. The youngster is also a target for Liverpool.

Jude Bellingham has the world at his feet despite being only 19 years old. The teenage sensation was already a hot property when he broke out at Birmingham City as a 16-year-old. But his stock has risen exponentially during his stint with Borussia Dortmund. At the same time, he has become a pivotal figure for the English national side.

The English international has ten goals and six assists in 30 appearances thus far this season. And he has also donned the leadership hat by wearing the armband in Marco Reus’s absence. But Bellingham’s spell with Dortmund will likely end in the summer. And Real Madrid and Liverpool will look to secure his services in the coming months.

Real Madrid will look at Bellingham as a long-term successor to Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. The ageing midfield stalwarts are approaching the end of their glittering careers. And Bellingham has emerged as the priority target for Real Madrid. But shelling out the required price will be an issue for Los Blancos.

While the reigning La Liga champions are financially secure, they do not want to pay over the odds. And Real Madrid will not shell out the €100 million that Borussia Dortmund will demand for the 19-year-old. Such a development might come as a boost for Liverpool.

Like Real Madrid, Liverpool will prioritise signing Bellingham in the summer transfer window. And the Reds have an even more desperate need to bolster the midfield unit ahead of the 2023/24 season. With Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner likely to leave as free agents, the Liverpool midfield unit will have vacancies. And the Englishman is a viable target.

It is unclear if Liverpool will be open to paying €100 million to sign Bellingham. But Manchester City, another top suitor, will likely shell out such a sum to secure his services. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will drive down Bellingham’s price tag in the summer.
