Liverpool and pSG have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are hoping to sign French international midfielder N’Golo Kante on a free transfer. And the Reds will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the Chelsea veteran.

Kante will be out of contract at the end of the season and might leave the club as a free agent. There have been rumours of a potential contract extension. But the two parties have not managed to reach an agreement yet. However, the report adds that talks between Chelsea and Kante are advanced.

It has been a difficult season for the 31-year-old midfielder, who has struggled with persistent injury problems. Kante has not been able to contribute significantly. And it remains to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to part with him in the summer.

Kante is undoubtedly one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and could prove to be a quality short-term acquisition for clubs like Liverpool and PSG. The fact that he might be available as a free agent makes the move less of a gamble. And the two clubs should look to snap him up if Chelsea fail to tie him down to a new deal.

Despite being 31, Kante could be a key player for Liverpool, who desperately need midfield reinforcements. If the Frenchman manages to get over his injury problems, he could be the ideal replacement for someone like James Milner. The experienced Liverpool midfielder will leave the club as a free agent, and Jurgen Klopp will have to replace his qualities and leadership skills.

Meanwhile, PSG need to add more depth to their squad to compete on all fronts and finally win the Champions league. The opportunity to return to France could be an attractive proposition for the Chelsea midfielder. And it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Kante will not only help shore up the midfield for the aforementioned clubs but also help them tighten up at the back and protect the central defenders with his tackling and interception skills. The 31-year-old has already proven himself in the Premier League with multiple clubs, and he could be open to trying out a new challenge now.
