Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to battle Juventus and Inter Milan for Real Betis ace Borja Iglesias, who has a €30 million price tag.

According to Fichajes, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur face intense competition from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan for the services of Real Betis star Borja Iglesias in the upcoming summer transfer window. Real Betis will demand €30 million to part ways with the Spanish striker.

The 30-year-old is an experienced player who has spent the entirety of his career in Spain. He has been with Betis since 2019 and has since made 144 appearances across all competitions, scoring 44 goals and making ten assists.

Iglesias is a player who appears to be ready for a big club and would be a sensible addition to Tottenham. Antonio Conte appears sold on the veteran’s abilities and a summer move appears to be in the offing. The Spaniard can not just lead the line but also do a job out on the left 10, dropping back to stretch the opposition’s defence when needed.

The 30-year-old’s major strength lies in his finishing and prowess in the final third. He has done a fine job at Betis and can thrive with better players around him. Tottenham are largely reliant on Harry Kane for goals. So bringing in a backup is certainly a wise move.

Kane has had to step up in Son Heung-min’s absence of form and continues to be Tottenham’s lynchpin in the attack. However, his future at the club is far from certain and the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been linked with summer moves for his services.

While Iglesias is an excellent backup, he will make a poor replacement for Kane as the club’s first-choice striker. Replicating the Englishman’s numbers will prove difficult, especially for a player who has not played outside Spain.

Roberto Soldado arrived at White Hart Lane with a brilliant reputation but struggled to replicate the same in England. Iglesias could follow in the same footsteps if too much if asked of him from the word go. And at €30 million, he will not be chap either.

The Spaniard is also attracting attention from Italy with Juventus and Inter Milan keen. The former have lost their aura of old and could part ways with Dusan Vlahovic in the summer amid interest from Chelsea. Iglesias would be a poor replacement for the Serb, but Juventus are far from the ideal club to play for in Serie A at the moment.

Inter Milan have Romelu Lukaku on loan, while Lautaro Martinez continues to be linked with an exit. With Angel Correa failing to impress, losing the former two players will leave a huge gap upfront for Simone Inzaghi. Iglesias might not be at the same level but should at the very least, make up the numbers.
