Chelsea are closing in on an agreement with Independiente del Valle starlet Kendry Paez, who could join them when he turns 18.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are on the verge of reaching an agreement for 15-year-old South American sensation Kendry Paez. The Independiente del Valle star was on the radars of many top European clubs. But the Blues seemingly have had the upper hand in the chase.
Chelsea made headlines at the end of January for their relentless spending to acquire top talents in the transfer market. Despite the huge outlay, results have not improved for Graham Potter’s side, as they languish in 10th place on the Premier League table.
While the club owners continue to take a rapid approach towards building an exciting team, they have shown patience with Potter. Chelsea spent over €300 million on young talents, with many notable names arriving last month. The Blues will enter the next window looking for a new striker. But they are also keen on securing young prospects fit for the future.
Ecuadorian talent Kendry Paez has come in the news several times recently, with a move to Europe looking imminent for the 15-year-old. While FIFA rules prohibit young talents moving abroad before turning 18, plenty of top clubs have rushed towards securing a deal now rather than later.

Real Madrid secured the signing of Endrick, who will arrive in Spain when he turns 18. Similarly, Chelsea are vying for Paez and agree on a deal for the Independiente del Valle starlet. The 15-year-old South American sensation also has interest from Real Madrid. But the Premier League giants may have the upper hand.
While there’s tremendous interest from Premier League clubs, Chelsea may have taken the front seat in the chase. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Blues are inching closer to finding an agreement for Paez and that a deal could conclude imminently.
Chelsea have kept tabs on multiple South American talents in the last few months. They also managed to sign Brazilian star Andrey Santos in January. The midfielder could stay in Brazil for the remainder of the season, even though the agreement with Palmeiras has collapsed.
Similarly, they want to get talents through the door rather than end up losing them to rival clubs in the next few years. 15-year-old South American sensation Kendry Paez is a player they admire. They want to secure a move and allow him to develop at Independiente del Valle until he turns 18.
