Barcelona might soon receive a bid for Clement Lenglet, with Tottenham willing to sign the 27-year-old permanently.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Clement Lenglet might soon join Tottenham on a permanent deal. The Premier League heavyweights are considering lodging an offer for the 27-year-old. And Barcelona will happily sell the player in the summer transfer window.

Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona in July 2018 following a splendid debut season with Sevilla. But the Frenchman has endured a topsy-turvy ride at Spotify Camp Nou in the last few years. He started his stint brilliantly before falling in stature due to a few inconsistent performances.

The 27-year-old fell down the pecking order before Barcelona loaned him out to Tottenham last summer. While Lenglet has featured regularly for Tottenham, turning out 21 times thus far, he has not been consistent. And recent reports suggested the north London club might not sign the Barcelona defender permanently. But SPORT has quashed such suggestions.

According to the report, the Premier League heavyweights are willing to submit an offer for the player. And Barcelona will happily part ways with Lenglet permanently. SPORT further adds that Nico Gonzalez and Ez Abde might be the only loanees who have long-term futures with Barcelona.

As for Lenglet, joining Tottenham permanently might be the right way forward for the 27-year-old. He might not have been consistent but has been impressive in a few games. And playing in a back three will mask a few deficiencies, making him an ideal candidate to continue in Antonio Conte’s system.

But Tottenham might face stiff competition from Sevilla for the French international. The Spanish giants are also keen on securing Lenglet’s services in the summer. And it will be interesting to see how much each club will be willing to offer for the player. As for Barcelona, the Blaugrana will look to sign a left-footed centre-back this summer.

Evan Ndicka is a top target for Barcelona. And recent reports have claimed they are close to signing the Eintracht Frankfurt defender. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Lenglet’s stint with Barcelona ends in the summer transfer window with a permanent move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
