Barcelona have reportedly reached verbal agreement to sign 23-year-old French defender Evan Ndicka in a Bosman move.

According to Christopher Michel, Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka as a free agent. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023, and he will be available for free post that.

Evan Ndicka’s verbal agreement with Barcelona means that the Catalan giants get to decide whether they want to sign him as a free agent or not by March. The 23-year-old defender joined Eintracht Frankfurt from AJ Auxerre back in the summer of 2018.

From being a future prospect to a first-team regular, Ndicka has made a name for himself at the club. Since joining Eintracht Frankfurt back in 2018, the French defender has made over 160 appearances. He also has 20 goal contributions to his name.

Ndicka has been brilliant at the heart of the defence. He is among their best players in the ongoing season. And, a lot of big clubs across Europe have their eyes set on him. But, Barcelona have managed to secure a verbal agreement with the player, giving them an edge in their pursuit.

The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has featured in 29 matches in the ongoing season. He has been involved in each of their 20 Bundesliga matches so far. Ndicka has been an important player for the German club for a few years now. The 23-year-old played a vital role in their Europa League triumph last season. With his contract set to expire in five months, he is looking at possible options. And the Barcelona offer is a tempting one for him.

Barcelona under Xavi have improved significantly are are currently leading the title race in La Liga. They have an 11-point cushion over second-placed Real Madrid. Barcelona are now looking to add more quality to their squad to push for the UEFA Champions League next season. They have identified Ndicka as a great option, with the player’s contract expiring.

The French centre-back will add more depth to the defensive side of things and will make Xavi’s life much easier. But, his arrival might send Eric Garcia further down in the pecking order. And the Spanish international might look for a way out. So, it will be interesting to see how things pan out and if a Bosman move sees the light of day.
