Illan Meslier remains a top target for Tottenham in the next window as they seek a viable replacement for veteran Hugo Lloris.

According to Team Talk, Tottenham are considering moving for Illan Meslier in the next window as they seek a replacement for Hugo Lloris. The 22-year-old PL goalkeeper also features on the shortlist of many other rivals, but Spurs might feel optimistic.

Tottenham Hotspur will have big decisions in the summer regarding several playing positions in the side. In addition to their managerial situation, Spurs will find a suitable replacement for the veteran keeper and captain, Hugo Lloris.

Lloris has had a stellar time in north London since signing from Lyon in 2012. He has performed at a top level for over a decade, but his recent displays have brought question marks about his future involvement.

The keeper led France to the World Cup Final and, soon after that, announced his retirement from International football. While he continues to lead Tottenham, many error-stricken displays have let Antonio Conte decide on the stopper’s future.

While Lloris only signed a new deal last year, he remains tied to the club until 2024. Tottenham would like to bring in a new player in the role now and steadily phase out Lloris from the position. Leeds United’s Illan Meslier remains a priority target for the north Londoners.

Meslier has plenty of top clubs chasing his signature, as many believe he could depart Leeds United in the summer. However, the 22-year-old PL goalkeeper has put in some stellar performances in England, which has kept many other sides on alert.

Yet, Tottenham might have confidence in the pursuit, as their project calls for a new No.1, unlike other sides where the position already seems established. In addition, clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea are also keen, leading to an intense battle for Meslier’s services.

All those sides and Tottenham could have a great opportunity in the summer if Leeds United get relegated this season. Irrespective of their status, Spurs could sign the 22-year-old PL goalkeeper and hand him a leap in standards.

Meslier will unlikely rush towards deciding on his future. He might wait and evaluate the many offers expected on his table when the season ends. Tottenham might get the consideration, but much will depend on where he can play regularly.
