Premier League giants Chelsea are confident about renewing terms with 31-year-old midfielder N’Golo Kante.

According to Simon Phillips via GiveMeSport, Premier League giants Chelsea are hopeful of penning down a new deal with N’Golo Kante. The 31-year-old’s existing contract at the club ends in the summer of 2023. And, a lot of big clubs are interested in his services.

The French international has been a part of the Blues since joining them in the summer of 2016 from Leicester. Kante helped the Foxes win the Premier League before making a move to Stamford Bridge. Ever since his arrival in London, he has been an important part of the team and has helped them win quite a few trophies.

The French midfielder has featured in 262 matches for the Blues and has 28 goal contributions to his name. He has been exceptional for Chelsea during his time at the club. Despite, being injured for the majority of the season, the Blues are still willing to bet on the 31-year-old midfielder.

With his contract set to expire in the summer a lot of clubs are interested in acquiring his services. Barcelona are keen on having the French international at Camp Nou in the summer.

According to reports, Chelsea have offered the £290,000 per week player a contract of two years with the option to extend for another 12 months. But, the player’s side are keen on having a three-year contract with an option to extend for another year.

Barcelona are willing to offer the 31-year-old a three-year deal and are desperate to land him. Despite all the talk, the Blues are optimistic about having his contract extended. People at the club expect Kante to sign a new deal in the coming weeks.

Phillips said: “But you can say Kante’s people have always had their desire to stay, it always has been.

“It has to be something that they’re happy with, in a sense of the terms as well.

“There’s a lot of optimism on that one. Everyone I’ve asked about that in the last few days, they think that he’s going to sign.”

N’Golo Kante has been a very important player for the Blues over the past few years. He has been integral to their success. And, their struggle in the ongoing season might be because of his absence.

The World Cup-winning midfielder has only featured in two matches in the current campaign. But, the London-based club still consider him a key part of their future and want to extend his stay at the club with a new deal.
