Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda, a target for Arsenal, at the end of the season.

A report from Football Insider claims that Ivan Fresneda is on Manchester United’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window. And the Red Devils are looking to sign the Spanish right-back at the end of the season.

Manchester United will face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal for the 18-year-old. The north London club have been trying to sign Fresneda for months now. But they failed to get a deal across the line after keenly pursuing him last month.

Fresneda has the potential to develop into a top-class full-back. And Manchester United could certainly use someone like him. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season, with clubs like West Ham United keen to secure his services.

The Red Devils will have to bring in necessary replacements, and Fresneda could prove to be a superb investment for them. The 18-year-old could be an understudy to Diogo Dalot before replacing the Portuguese international as Manchester United’s first-choice right-back in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need to sign a quality full-back as well, and they will be determined to sign Fresneda at the end of the season. The young Spaniard will likely have reasonable price to pay for a player with his potential. And he should prove to be a bargain for Arsenal in the long run.

Mikel Arteta has had to field makeshift right-backs this season. And the Spaniard will want to bring in a natural full-back at the end of the season. Fresneda certainly fits the profile, and Arsenal will do well to secure his services.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have the finances to pull off the transfer, and it remains to be seen where the player ends up. The Gunners are well-placed to win the Premier League title this season. And winning a major trophy win could give them an edge in the transfer chase and convince the 18-year-old to move to the London club instead.
