Fabrizio Romano rules out Jonathan Tah talks for Chelsea, Manchester United

Jonathan Tah has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly keen on securing his services.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that there have not been any contacts between the player and the two Premier League clubs at this stage and the defender is thought to be valued at around £22-23 million.

Romano claims that there was interest in the player from England and Italy at the start of the season. But nothing concrete has been put forward to Bayer Leverkusen or the German defender.

Romano said to Caught Offside, “I’m told is still early to see where Jonathan Tah will go, I’m not aware of contacts with Chelsea or Manchester United at this stage. There was interest in England and Italy last summer but nothing concrete. I think he’s worth around £22-23m.”

The 27-year-old defender has been linked with a move away from Germany in the past as well. And it remains to be seen whether the German international can secure and move to the Premier League this time around.

Tah has established himself as a key player for Bayer Leverkusen over the years, and he is certainly one of the most promising defenders in the Bundesliga. Both Chelsea and Manchester United could use more depth at the back, and Tah would be a quality acquisition for them.

The 27-year-old is at the peak of his career right now. And he could come in and make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford. Summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly has been largely underwhelming for Chelsea so far, and the Blues could look to replace him with a younger player with higher potential.

Tah certainly fits that profile, and Chelsea can afford his reported £23 million asking price as well. Meanwhile, Manchester United could lose players like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at the end of the season, and Erik ten Hag will need to bring in a replacement.

The 27-year-old has the technical and physical attributes to succeed in English football, and he could improve both teams. The German defender is strong in tackles and imposing in the air. He is an impressive reader of the game as well.

The reported £22-23 million asking price could prove to be a massive bargain if the player manages to settle into the Premier League quickly. Tah has proven his quality in the Bundesliga over the years, and he will be keen to test himself at a higher level.

The opportunity to join a top Premier League club could prove to be a tempting proposition for the player. And he could improve as a defender while competing against the best attackers in the world in England.
