Chelsea are reportedly planning an ambitious big-money move for a striker at the end of the season.

According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea are looking to pull off a big money move for a striker at the end of the season in a deal that could prove to be their biggest yet.

Chelsea spent massive sums of money during the January transfer window and have brought in players like Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Enzo Fernandez, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Fofana with a combined outlay of around £292 million.

The Blues shattered the British transfer record to sign World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez. And it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to eclipse that outlay with an attacking signing in the summer.

The goalscoring department has been a major concern for Chelsea this season. And the Blues have scored just 23 goals in 22 Premier League matches this season. Their travails have forced Chelsea to consider selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

They are currently ninth in the table, and it seems highly unlikely that they will be able to break into the top four and secure Champions League qualification. Summer signing Aubameyang has been quite underwhelming since returning to the Premier League. Meanwhile, young striker Armando Broja is currently sidelined for several months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea you have set aside a considerable sum of money to bring in a goalscorer at the end of the season. And they are prepared to raise funds through sales as well. Aubameyang is set to leave the club at the end of the season, and on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku could be sold permanently as well.

The Blues have been linked with a number of players in recent months, including Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian international has been in exceptional form for the Partenopsi this season, and he could prove to be an inspiring addition to the Chelsea attack.

Graham Potter knows he will need to bring in a quality finisher to transform Chelsea into title contenders once again. And it remains to be seen whether they can bring in the necessary reinforcements for a box-office striker signing.
