Chelsea could prioritise signing Victor Osimhen in the summer as they seek a top name to spearhead their attacking line.

According to 90 Min, Chelsea have identified Victor Osimhen as a priority target for the summer. The Blues lack a top-draw striker in their ranks. They could look toward the 24-year-old Nigerian to spearhead their attacking lineup from next season.

Chelsea only finished the January window as the biggest spenders after splashing over €300 million on many players. Owner Todd Boehly was instrumental in bringing a host of attacking talents. Those included wingers Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and forward David Fofana.

On paper, they have a few notable central strikers on their roster, but Boehly doesn’t see them fitting into the long-term planning. Chelsea remains keen on adding a top-level name to spearhead their attacking lineup next season.

Victor Osimhen has emerged as their priority target ahead of the summer. The 24-year-old is having a sensational season with Napoli, scoring 16 goals in 17 Serie A appearances as his team carries a 13 points lead at the summit. He was a big target for many Premier League sides, with many set to revisit their interest in the upcoming window.

Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis has already warned suitors the 24-year-old is not for sale.

He said, “I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale. “Our players are in demand, but I don’t have to sell anyone. We don’t have any debts.”

Some reports suggested the Napoli supremo could demand around €150 million to sell the 24-year-old. That price point may not deter Chelsea in their pursuit of the striker. They only have to worry about the competition from Manchester United and other clubs for the Nigerian.

Erik ten Hag is also in the market for a new central striker, with Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane at the top of his shortlist. Manchester United seem serious about their transfer targets next season. Hence, they could look to bring the 24-year-old on priority.

As for Chelsea, they could go all out to sign the Nigerian from Napoli, but they might negotiate on the price. The Blues also have other areas to strengthen, including midfield and central defence. A fierce transfer battle between them and Manchester United for Osimhem in the summer could ensue.
