Bayern Munich will not look to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, contrary to earlier reports.
Reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg has moved to refute recent claims linking Ansu Fati with Bayern Munich. The Sky Sports reporter has suggested that the Bundesliga champions have made no offer for the Barcelona prospect, whose market value has fallen to €50 million.
Ansu Fati has endured a frustrating stint with Barcelona since becoming the club’s second-youngest player a few years ago. The 20-year-old was supposed to be a long-term solution in the offensive unit for the Blaugrana. But fitness issues have hampered his progress in the last couple of seasons.
Fati is no longer a regular starter for Barcelona. In addition, the youngster’s market value has fallen to €50 million. Meanwhile, the Spanish international has managed six goals and three assists in 31 appearances thus far this term. But despite the fall in stature, the player remains a target for high-profile clubs.
Widespread reports have linked Ansu Fati with Manchester United. Other top Premier League clubs have also joined the race to sign the Barcelona prospect. And the most recent updates suggested that he had popped up on the radar of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

But the reported interest from Bayern Munich did not make much sense. That is because the arrival of Sadio Mane had seemingly completed Julian Nagelsmann’s wide-attacking options. The Senegalese international had joined Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman at Bayern Munich. And Florian Plettenberg has now refuted claims about Bayern Munich’s interest.
The reputed German journalist has suggested that the Bavarian giants have not submitted an offer to sign the Barcelona prospect. He has also suggested that Bayern Munich might not be interested in the 20-year-old at all. And while Fati’s market value has fallen to €50 million, his release clause, worth €1 billion, would have complicated matters.
So the latest update by Florian Plettenberg makes a world of sense. And it will be interesting to see if Fati can resurrect his stuttering career after regaining fitness. For now, the Spanish international remains on unstable ground at Spotify Camp Nou.
