English giants Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer €80 million to sign Federico Valverde from Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Federico Valverde is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are willing to fork out €80 million to sign the Real Madrid utility man in the summer transfer window.
Federico Valverde has come a long way since joining Real Madrid from CA Penarol in July 2016. The Uruguayan international initially cut his teeth at Real Madrid Castilla before graduating to the first team. And he has established himself as a pivotal figure for Los Blancos in the last few years.
The 24-year-old has transformed into a versatile asset under Carlo Ancelotti. And Valverde has amassed eight goals and four assists in 30 appearances thus far this season. The player’s rapid progress at Real Madrid has not gone unnoticed either, with Manchester United among his prospective suitors.
Manchester United will likely enter the market for a midfield reinforcement in the summer. That is because Christian Eriksen is on the wrong side of 30. In addition, the Danish midfielder does not have the endurance to last an entire season as the first-choice box-to-box midfielder. At the same time, Fred and Scott McTominay are backup options for Erik ten Hag.
With neither player looking likely to rise in stature, Manchester United will need to delve into the market. Meanwhile, it is unclear if the Red Devils will be in any position to sign deadline-day arrival Marcel Sabitzer permanently in the summer. So it behoves Manchester United to identify potential midfield solutions.
Several versatile midfielders, including Daichi Kamada, have thus emerged on Manchester United’s radar. And Federico Valverde is also a viable target for the Premier League heavyweights. Meanwhile, the report claims that the Red Devils are ready to offer €80 million to sign him from Real Madrid.

But considering Valverde’s stature at Real Madrid, a summer move seems improbable. But it will be interesting to see if an offer worth €80 million does the trick for Manchester United. Chances are, they will need to look away from the Real Madrid utility man for a midfield reinforcement.
