Real Madrid will pursue Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes if they fail to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Bruno Guimaraes is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions view the Newcastle United midfielder as an alternative to Jude Bellingham.

Bruno Guimaraes has set the stage alight since joining Newcastle United from Lyon twelve months ago. The Brazilian international took no time to establish himself as a pivotal figure for the Tyneside outfit and was instrumental as they staved off relegation comfortably last season. And he is now one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has turned out 41 times thus far for Newcastle, chipping in with nine goals and four assists. And Guimaraes’s progress at Newcastle United has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

Bruno Guimaraes has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several months. And the Newcastle United midfielder is a viable target for Los Blancos. While he has excelled as a deep-lying playmaker for Newcastle, he is equally good as a box-to-box midfielder. And the player’s versatility makes him an attractive option for Real Madrid.

The Merengues are prioritising signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. But the English international is also a target for several Premier League bigwigs, including Newcastle United. So it behoves Real Madrid to identify alternatives for Bellingham if they fail to sign him.

Matteo Guendouzi has thus emerged as a potential alternative. And Bruno Guimaraes is also an appealing target for Real Madrid. But the Newcastle United midfielder should be more expensive than Guendouzi. However, money should not be a problem for the Spanish champions, who remain one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.

Real Madrid will still prefer to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if the reigning La Liga champions need to set their sights elsewhere in the coming months. If so, Guimaraes and Guendouzi will be potential alternatives to the Dortmund midfielder.
