Benjamin Pavard reportedly wants to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window when his stint with Bayern Munich will likely end.

According to reputed German journalist Kerry Hau, Benjamin Pavard has decided to leave Bayern Munich. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will remain at the Allianz Arena until the end of the season. But the 26-year-old wants to join Barcelona, with his team working on a summer deal.

Benjamin Pavard has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bayern Munich from VfB Stuttgart. The French international was already a World Cup winner before moving to the Allianz Arena. And he has excelled as a right-back and a centre-back in the last three and a half years.

The 26-year-old has turned out 142 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with nine goals and 11 assists. But the player wants to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window. And Pavard’s situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.

Barcelona will be eager to end the right-back woes for good in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants have failed to find the heir to Dani Alves in the last half a dozen years. And Pavard might be the solution to Barcelona’s long-standing issues in the right-back department.

The 26-year-old emerged on Barcelona’s radar in November. And the Catalan giants have been working on a potential deal to sign the French international in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have also claimed that Barcelona and the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner have been in contact.

Pavard has decided to end his stint with Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. And he is keen on joining Barcelona in July, with his team already working on a deal. They will be in touch with Pini Zahavi, who will act as an intermediary to oversee a smooth agreement.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will likely sign Joao Cancelo on loan from Manchester City ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. But that will not deter the 26-year-old from staying at the Allianz Arena until the end of the season. However, it will be interesting to see if Pavard’s wish to join Barcelona materialises in the summer.
