Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga before the transfer deadline.

According to a report from ESPN, Barcelona are exploring moves to bolster their squad before the January transfer window closes. And 20-year-old Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has emerged as a potential target.

Apparently, Elanga will be allowed to leave Manchester United today. And the Sweden international will be looking to join a club where he can play regular first-team football.

Barcelona have a number of quality wingers at their disposal. And it seems highly unlikely that Elanga will get ample game time at Camp Nou during the second half of the campaign. Therefore, a move to Barcelona would hardly benefit the talented youngster.

Elanga needs to play regularly to continue his progress, and he is better off joining a club that can provide him with first-team assurances. Apparently, Barcelona are looking to add some cover to their attack after the departure of Memphis Depay

So the Blaugrana are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Manchester United prospect. Apparently, the winger is on the radar of Everton, Borussia Dortmund, and PSV Eindhoven as well. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United are prepared to sanction his departure to Barcelona this month.

Elanga has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and Erik ten Hag will want him to join a club where he can continue to improve as a player with first-team action. The move to Barcelona would not benefit Manchester United or the player.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few hours. Elanga arrived at Manchester United with massive hype, and he is a prodigious talent. He has the potential to develop into a key player for the Red Devils, and it remains to be seen whether he can get his career back on track with regular game time now.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are thought to be keen on signing Morocco international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as well. The 26-year-old was exceptional for his country during the recently-concluded World Cup, and he is being looked at as a potential successor to Sergio Busquets in the long run.
