Crystal Palace will reportedly pursue Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer instead of this month.

According to a report by The Sun, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. But the Eagles do not have enough funds to complete a move this month. So they will pursue the Manchester United defender in the summer transfer window.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has endured a rollercoaster ride since joining Manchester United from Crystal Palace in July 2019. A graduate of the Crystal Palace academy, he spent a decade with the south London club. And his progress has stalled in the last twelve months, with Diogo Dalot usurping him.

Erik ten Hag has also favoured Dalot over Wan-Bissaka, restricting the 25-year-old to just 831 minutes of game time. But the Portuguese international’s injury-enforced absence has benefitted the player. And the full-back has featured in most games since the season resumed last month. Nonetheless, Wan-Bissaka’s future remains uncertain, with Crystal Palace interested in re-signing him.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Crystal Palace began discussions with Manchester United for the 25-year-old. And the interest in the player is hardly surprising, considering their current right-back options. That is because Patrick Vieira has Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne at his disposal.

While the two right-backs have been dependable for Crystal Palace, they are on the wrong side of 30. Wan-Bissaka thus emerged as a viable target for the south London club. And the Eagles have been optimistic about re-signing the Manchester United defender this month. But they do not have enough funds to complete a January move.

So Crystal Palace will patiently wait until the summer transfer window before launching the offensive for the player. They have also adopted the approach for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. And the Eagles will hope that biding their time does not come back to haunt them in the coming days.

Wan-Bissaka and Gallagher are targets for other Premier League clubs. And if neither player leaves this month, Crystal Palace will have a solid chance of completing the transfers in the summer. As for the Manchester United defender, he will unlikely depart from Old Trafford this month amid Dalot’s fitness woes.
