Manchester United could allow Facundo Pellistri to depart the club on loan, with Valencia closing in on his signature.

According to Calciomercato, Valencia are closing in on signing Facundo Pellistri this month. Manchester United are ready to let the 21-year-old winger depart to gain regular game time and return in the summer to compete with the squad.

Manchester United have made only one outfield signing this month, with Wout Weghorst coming in to strengthen the attacking areas. The Dutchman only arrived on loan as Erik ten Hag looked to replace the departed Cristiano Ronaldo. The Red Devils need to shore up several other places but may have a quiet January.

Meanwhile, some players might temporarily depart the club to gain experience and game time. There are quite a few notable names on that list, including Anthony Elanga, who could join Borussia Dortmund if reports are accurate.

There is also the uncertain future of captain Harry Maguire amid West Ham United’s interest. But the Manchester United captain is likely to stay. Facundo Pellistri is also being considered to leave the club before the window shuts, as he struggles to get into Erik ten Hag’s first team plans.

Manchester United considered sending him out on loan last summer. But somehow the Uruguayan ended up staying a the club. The Red Devils rate the player highly and see a future for him in the team. However, amid plenty of competition for places in wide areas, it is proving difficult for Ten Hag to give him game time.

Valencia are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Pellistri. The Spanish side could provide him regular game time, thus helping him gain valuable experience. The Uruguayan is a full international for his national side and has also featured at the World Cup.

Valencia have been in the market for a new winger since the departure of Goncalo Guedes to Wolves last summer. The struggling La Liga outfit also have a good track record with young players, with some Premier League raw talents often joining them temporarily.

A move to Spain would benefit Pellistri in the quest to gain regular football before returning to Manchester United next summer. The Red Devils could evaluate his future after this spell, as ten Hag could seriously include him in his plans for next season.
