Manchester United could loan out Facundo Pellistri for another season as the winger seeks regular playing time ahead of the World Cup.

According to ESPN Uruguay, Manchester United are ready to loan out Facundo Pellistri as the winger seeks regular playing time ahead of the World Cup in Qatar. The report insists Italy or Portugal could be the 20-year-old’s next destination, having already gained experience in Spain.

Facundo Pellistri was one of those young starlets signed from South America tipped for bigger things on English soil. A few Under-23 games aside in Manchester, the 20-year-old has spent the last 18 months with Alaves, gaining valuable first-team football.

Having signed from Atletico Peranol in the summer of 2020 for a fee of over £7.5 million, Pellistri is yet to make a senior appearance for Manchester United. During his two loan spells with Alaves, the winger made 35 appearances in all competitions, including 33 in La Liga.

Unfortunately, in all those games for Alaves, Pellistri never scored or assisted a goal. The forward is part of Manchester United’s pre-season squad and even scored in the friendly against Liverpool. However, the Red Devils already possess a well-stacked attack, which leaves no space for a youngster like Pellistri. Moreover, their links to Ajax star Antony could mean he would be further pushed down the pecking order.

Having gained some valuable experience in Spain, Pellistri could be set for another stint away from Old Trafford as Manchester United are considering loaning the winger out, with Italy or Portugal touted as a possible destination.

As mentioned earlier, Pellistri featured in Manchester United’s first pre-season game against Liverpool. However, he has not seen any game time since that appearance, as he was kept out of the side against Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace.

Pellistri is a full international for Uruguay and has been capped six times so far. Manager Diego Alonso has regularly selected him in recent games. However, the winger needs to play regularly to remain in contention to be part of the national team squad ahead of the Qatar World Cup.

There is no information on Pellistri’s potential new destination, although the report insists it could be a club in Portugal or Italy. The 20-year-old will have to perform at his best to force his way into Erik ten Hag’s plans for the 2023/24 season. Manchester United are likewise considering sanctioning a loan move for their other young stars like Amad Diallo and Tahith Chong.
