Premier League leaders Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eduardo Camavinga on loan from Real Madrid this month.

According to a report by Evening Standard, Eduardo Camavinga is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are ready to back Mikel Arteta in the market to deliver the Premier League title. And the Real Madrid midfield prospect has emerged as a loan target to bolster the midfield unit.

Real Madrid seemed to have struck a coup when they signed Eduardo Camavinga in August 2021. The 20-year-old is one of the most promising young midfielders in the world and had made a splash at Rennes as a teenage prodigy. But the move to Real Madrid has not worked out as envisioned for the youngster.

The French international was a part of his country’s squad as France reached the FIFA World Cup 2022 final. But the player has started only 11 games thus far for Real Madrid this season. And Camavinga’s struggles to garner starts have captured the attention of Arsenal, who will look to sign him on loan from Real Madrid this month.

Arsenal will back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this month to bolster the Premier League title bid. The Gunners have already signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion. And recent reports have suggested that Arsenal might soon sign Jakub Kiwior from Spezia in the coming days.

But the north Londoners are not done yet, as Arteta wants them to sign a new midfielder. That is because the Arsenal boss cannot depend on Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny. And with games coming thick and fast, Arteta cannot use Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in every game. Camavinga has thus emerged as an attractive target for Arsenal.

The Gunners have healthy relations with Real Madrid following deals for Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard in recent years. And Camavinga might be the latest Real Madrid player to join Arsenal on loan. But with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the twilight of their careers, it is unclear if Los Blancos will sanction Camavinga’s loan departure.

So Arsenal might have to identify alternatives for the Real Madrid midfield prospect. They have shown interest in the versatile Michael Olise. But the Crystal Palace star is a potential target for the summer. So it will be interesting to see who the north Londoners sign to beef up the midfield unit.
