Leandro Trossard has officially joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £26 million, including add-ons.

Arsenal have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of Leandro Trossard. The Belgian international arrives from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £26 million, including add-ons. And the player has signed a long-term contract with the Gunners.

Leandro Trossard spent his formative years with several Belgian clubs before rising in prominence at KRC Genk. But his stock skyrocketed after moving to Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2019. Since then, the 28-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Seagulls, establishing himself as an underrated attacker.

The Belgian international has been superb thus far this season, amassing seven goals and three assists in 16 Premier League outings. But Trossard had a few run-ins with Robert De Zerbi after returning from the World Cup break. And things went from bad to worse in recent weeks before De Zerbi banished the player from first-team training. That is when Arsenal considered signing him.

Trossard’s entourage first offered Arsenal the chance to sign the player this month. And after Tottenham attempted to secure his services, the Gunners joined their local rivals in the chase. Arsenal quickly advanced talks with Brighton for the 28-year-old attacker before agreeing to a deal.

Arsenal’s interest in the Belgian international came in the wake of Chelsea’s capture of Mykhaylo Mudryk. The Ukrainian international was Arsenal’s top January target for weeks before the Blues swooped in with a bid. And the Gunners have now completed a deal worth £26 million, including add-ons.

Upon the deal’s completion, Mikel Arteta said, “It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro. He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.”

“Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him. We welcome Leandro and his family to Arsenal Football Club.”

Arsenal will hope to have Trossard available for the Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday. The Gunners have said in their statement that they have submitted all the documents and hope to have him available this weekend.
