Liverpool want to sign Matheus Nunes in a summer move as Jurgen Klopp seeks reinforcements.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are eager to strengthen their midfield options next summer, with Matheus Nunes one of their targets. Jurgen Klopp considers the Wolves star as a potential replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita.

Liverpool are ready to address their midfield problems and reinforce them with the right targets in the summer. Jurgen Klopp has faced plenty of criticism for his inability to bring players into the position during the summer window. He is yet to sign someone for the central role this month.

There are plenty of links to a few notable names in the market. Jude Bellingham is widely discussed as a star arrival next summer, but there are considerable doubts about the switch. Many other things are happening, including the expiring contracts of two notable first-team stars.

Liverpool might let Naby Keita depart in the summer on a free transfer. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could endure the same fate, as the midfield duo failed to make a mark since their arrival at Anfield. Hence, Klopp is already looking at names to replace those potential departures.

Having chased Matheus Nunes in the summer, Liverpool are ready to rekindle their interest in the Wolves star. He only joined the Midlands side in August and signed a long-term deal. Acquiring him would prove an expensive affair for the Reds, but Klopp is willing to explore the idea.

Other clubs keep tabs on the Portuguese midfielder after some impressive displays in the Premier League. Liverpool has taken the first steps to ensure they get headway. Fabrizio Romano confirmed there were talks with the player over a future move.

Liverpool are also interested in Ruben Neves, who is Nunes’ international and club teammate. Either way, the Reds are keen on signing a player to strengthen the position and may spend significantly to achieve their targets.

The complications would come from Wolves, who may want to keep Nunes for the longer term. Much will depend on their demands and Liverpool’s ability to meet those. They are exploring the idea and will hope the player gets convinced of the prospect of playing at Anfield.
