La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly interested in Goncalo Guedes, who might soon leave Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Goncalo Guedes is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The disgruntled attacker might leave Wolverhampton Wanderers before the January transfer window closes. And the Catalan giants are one of three La Liga clubs looking to sign the 26-year-old on loan this month.

Goncalo Guedes has endured a career that has often promised much but failed to deliver the goods. The Portuguese international rose to prominence during his stint with Benfica before earning a big move to Paris Saint-Germain. But the spell with PSG did not work, and he resurrected his fortunes at Valencia CF.

The 26-year-old’s stint with Valencia ended in the summer as he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers. But the spell at the Molineux has not gone as envisioned as he has only two goals and one assist in 18 appearances. And Guedes has reached his lowest point at the Black Country outfit, with Julen Lopetegui dropping him recently. Such a situation has captured the attention of FC Barcelona.

Barcelona will have no funds to sign a player permanently in the January transfer window. So the Blaugrana will need to resort to the loan market to bolster the first-team squad, if at all. And the offensive unit needs at least one reinforcement amid Memphis Depay’s uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou.

The Dutch attacker is reportedly closing in on joining Atletico Madrid and will leave a spot vacant in the attacking department. Several attackers have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar over a possible loan move this month. And Guedes is also a viable target for the Catalan outfit.

The 26-year-old Portuguese international spent nearly half a decade in Spain and might not take long to settle down at Camp Nou. But Barcelona will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid and Valencia in the race to sign the player. With the other two clubs also keen on bolstering their squads, a tight battle might commence.

But the Catalan giants also have other attackers on their radar, including Yannick Carrasco. And it will be interesting to see who arrives at Spotify Camp Nou in the ongoing transfer window. For now, Guedes has emerged as a viable target for Barcelona.
