Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have an edge over Chelsea in the pursuit of Sporting CP right-back Pedro Porro.

According to a report by A Bola, as relayed by Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur have already initiated contact with the entourage of Sporting CP full-back Pedro Porro, with Chelsea also interested in the Spaniard.

Tottenham are yet to enter the winter transfer market. But with the business end approaching, they will start getting invested in the process. Antonio Conte has already earmarked a number of acquisitions. And the onus will be on the recruitment team to get the deals done, with Porro high on their agenda.

The north Londoners have been quite patchy in their Premier League run and are faltering at a fast pace. They are three points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle United. And the defeat to Arsenal in the North London Derby has left them lagging further.

A right-back is high on the agenda for Tottenham, as Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal have failed to provide the desired level required to uplift the team. At least one of them could be offloaded to make room for another new arrival.

Porro has already agreed on a move to Tottenham, who have stepped up their efforts to sign him. And the two clubs will further meet in order to thrash an agreement. Sporting will demand the full release clause to be paid, which is believed to be €45 million. But severe negotiations are expected to happen over the course of the next few days.

The North Londoners are also willing to offer a player in a bid to lower the quoted price. But it could emerge to be quite difficult. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already spent more than £400 million on several players this season. And they are not ready to put a break to their signing spree.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is the latest player to be signed by the London giants, and they are also chasing the signature of the 23-year-old. Graham Potter is still looking for a suitable backup to Recce James, whose season has been ravaged by injury. The English international is still nursing an injury and Porro could be a shrewd option for Chelsea.
