Chelsea are reportedly looking to finalise a move for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram this month.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have submitted a tempting offer for Marcus Thuram. And the 25-year-old French international forward is in advanced talks to join the Premier League club this month.

Apparently, Thuram was keen on staying with the Bundesliga club until the end of the season. But he has had a change of heart and is now considering a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have already signed Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid. But it seems that they are not done strengthening their squad just yet.

Thuram has been in fine form this season, scoring 13 goals across all competitions for Gladbach. He will be hoping to make an immediate impact in the Premier League and transform Chelsea in the final third.

The Blues have had a disappointing season so far, and they are currently tenh in the league table. Graham Potter’s men will have to improve significantly to secure UEFA Champions League qualification. And Chelsea must look to strengthen their squad adequately before the January window closes.

Thuram has the technical and physical attributes to thrive in English football, and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running. The 25-year-old French international is naturally a centre forward. But he can operate in wide areas as well. His versatility will be a bonus for Graham Potter and Chelsea, thus explaining the interest from the west Londoners.

The Blues have been toothless going forward this season. Players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kai Havertz, and Raheem Sterling have all struggled to find the back of the net consistently. Thuram can potentially transform Chelsea’s fortunes in the final third during the second half of the season.

The 25-year-old forward will be a free agent in the summer. So he will likely be available for a knockdown price this month. Borussia Monchengladbach will not want to lose the player as a free agent, and they should look to cash in on him before the January window closes.

With Chelsea in advanced talks to seal a deal, the French international might soon arrive at Stamford Bridge. It is clear that the player’s head has been turned by the interest from Chelsea. And it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise a reasonable fee now.
