Manchester United have shifted their focus to Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Chelsea.

As per a report in talkSPORT, Manchester United are very keen to rope in Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs of the progress of the English right-back.

The 25-year-old has been a rare shining light in what has been a very underwhelming season for Southampton. They have a tough relegation battle at hand, and it will be pretty difficult for them to keep hold of their prized assets if they cannot manage to protect their top-flight status anymore.

Walker-Peters is willing to leave the South Coast as he is pushing to upgrade his current stature. The 25-year-old has been one of the most consistent players at St. Mary’s over the last couple of seasons. And the Saints have already earmarked him for a new deal. But the English right-back does not want to renew his current contract, slated to run until 2025 and wants a new challenge.

Manchester United have looked for a new right-back due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s lack of progression throughout the years. But the former England under-21 international has found the rhythm recently. And the picture will be clearer in the upcoming days as the Red Devils will experience a busy January due to their fixture congestion.

Walker-Peters came through the ranks at Tottenham. But failed to establish himself at the north London club and secured a permanent move to Southampton. But Tottenham are in the hunt for a right wing-back, as neither Emerson Royal nor Matt Doherty has managed to impress Antonio Conte. And Spurs have set their sights on the 25-year-old English right-back.

As for Chelsea, Reece James’s recent injury troubles have forced the Blues to look out for a backup option. The west Londoners have already brought in four players this month and could further invest to bolster their squad.

To that end, Walker-Peters has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea. But Manchester United remain in contention, albeit only if they offload Wan-Bissaka this month. And the chances of a move to Old Trafford look very bleak as it stands. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea or Tottenham can usurp Manchester United in the race to sign the 25-year-old English right-back.
