Liverpool want to improve their midfield department and have opened talks with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Kouadio Kone.

According to a report from Football Transfers, Liverpool are eyeing up a move for the highly talented Kouadio Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach. And the Reds have already held talks regarding a potential move. The Premier League giants have contacted OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram as well.

Liverpool are determined to bring in midfield reinforcements this month. And it will be interesting to see if they can sign the 21-year-old midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach. Kone is highly rated in the Bundesliga and has a big future ahead of him.

Liverpool will need to strengthen their midfield, with a number of key players struggling to hit top form. And Kone recently emerged on the Reds’ radar. The Reds are desperate to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for next season. And bringing in the right additions in January could be the key to securing a top-four finish.

Liverpool have been linked with players like Matheus Nunes, Enzo Fernandez, and Jude Bellingham as well. However, none of the three players is expected to arrive this month. So Liverpool are eyeing up a potential move for Kone.

Kone has been a regular starter for Gladbach this season, and he has one goal and an assist to his name in 14 Bundesliga appearances.

The highly-rated defensive midfielder could partner Thiago Alcantara at the heart of Liverpool’s midfield during the second half of the campaign. Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has struggled since the start of the season, and Klopp needs to bring in a specialist defensive midfielder who can take over.
