Liverpool have been linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, who wants to join the Reds.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on signing Moises Caicedo and the player is open to joining them as well. And the 21-year-old has told his friends that he is eager to join Jurgen Klopp’s side in the near future.

It seems unlikely that Brighton will sanction his departure midway through the season. So it is fair to assume that Liverpool might have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign the Ecuador international.

The 21-year-old is a promising young talent with a big future ahead of him. And Klopp would help him develop and improve as a footballer. Meanwhile, Liverpool recently had an offer rejected by Brighton and are preparing another bid for the midfielder.

The Brighton midfielder is reportedly valued at £45 million by the Premier League club. And Liverpool certainly have the financial ability to pay the asking price. Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen on signing Caicedo as well. The fact that he wants to join the Reds will only come as a boost for the Premier League giants. And it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to try their luck this month.

Liverpool will lose a number of midfielders at the end of the season, with players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner becoming free agents in the summer. The Reds will thus need to invest in more than just one central midfielder at the end of the season.

Liverpool have been linked with players like Jude Bellingham, Sofyan Amrabat and Enzo Fernandez as well. But Caicedo is well-settled in the Premier League and could make an immediate impact at Anfield. Furthermore, his playing style is a good fit for the Reds, and he is likely to flourish in Klopp’s system.

The 21-year-old is an excellent presser and tends to work hard without the ball. Caicedo has the technical ability, flair and energy to play in a high-pressing system, and he could develop into a key player for Liverpool for the foreseeable future. The reported £45 million asking price could look like a bargain in the long run. But it will be interesting to see if a move to Anfield materialises.
