Barcelona preparing offer to sign Pedro Porro

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Spanish defender Pedro Porro, a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from the Portuguese publication Record, Barcelona are hoping to sign Pedro Porro ahead of Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season, and they are preparing a summer proposal. Apparently, Atletico Madrid are keen on signing the 23-year-old defender as well.

Porro has been outstanding for Sporting CP this season, and he has two goals and ten assists to his name across all competitions. The player has been heavily linked with the move to Tottenham this month. But it seems that the north Londoners are not prepared to pay his release clause to sign him.

The defender has a release clause of around €45 million, and Sporting are not prepared to let him leave for less than that. It will be interesting to see if Sporting change their stance at the end of the season and are willing to negotiate a more reasonable price.

Antonio Conte needs to bring in a quality right back, and the 23-year-old could have been outstanding for Tottenham. Meanwhile, Barcelona will need to sign a quality full-back as well. The likes of Sergi Roberto and Hector Bellerin have been underwhelming, and the Catalan giants need to bring in a better player.

The 23-year-old Sporting CP defender certainly has the ability to succeed at a top club. And it will be interesting to see if he ends up at Barcelona next season. The Blaugrana are going through financial difficulties, and it will be interesting to see if they can beat the likes of Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.

The opportunity to join Barcelona is certainly an attractive proposition for most players. And Porro could be tempted to move to Spotify Camp Nou instead of Tottenham or Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The Spanish defender has shown that he is a reliable defender, and he can be quite effective going forward. He could add a new dimension to the Barcelona gameplay next term. Xavi Hernandez has done well to nurture talented young players like Pedri and Gavi this season, and he could help the 23-year-old full-back improve and fulfil his potential as well.
