Struggling La Liga giants Valencia are reportedly interested in signing Spanish prodigy Pablo Torre from Barcelona this month.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pablo Torre is the subject of interest from La Liga outfit Valencia. Los Che will look to sign the Barcelona prodigy in the January transfer window after Nico Gonzalez picked up an injury.

Pablo Torre is one of the brightest young prospects in Spain, making his mark for unheralded clubs. The 19-year-old rose to prominence at Racing Santander, becoming a pivotal figure for the lowly club while still in his teens. So it was hardly surprising when Spanish bigwigs clamoured for his signature before Barcelona secured his signature.

The Spanish prodigy has made gradual progress at Spotify Camp Nou but is making his mark for Barcelona. Torre has made five appearances for the Blaugrana, chipping in with a goal and an assist. The youngster was recently impressive during Barcelona’s Copa del Rey meeting with CF Intercity.

But there is a general feeling that Torre might progress better on loan at a top-flight club. And several La Liga clubs are showing interest in the teenage prodigy, with Valencia now joining the race to sign him from Barcelona. The latest update comes in the wake of Nico Gonzalez’s injury.

Nico has been on loan from Barcelona since the summer transfer window. But the youngster’s fitness issue has forced Valencia to enter the market for a midfield reinforcement. And Torre is a viable target for Los Che for the January transfer window.

The Barcelona prodigy is primarily an attacking midfielder who usually reprises the no. 10 role. But Torre has also shown the potential to play as a box-to-box midfielder while representing Barcelona this season. So Gennaro Gattuso can use the 19-year-old in various scenarios depending on the situation and opposition.

But Valencia might have to fend off local rival Villarreal to sign Torre. Recent reports have pointed to the Yellow Submarine being in the pole position to sign the teenager. But it will be interesting to see if Barcelona will be open to loaning the Spaniard this month.
