Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United need to pay £85 million to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
According to a report from Sunday Mirror, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Liverpool are hoping to sign Moises Caicedo in January. But they, in addition to Chelsea and Newcastle United, will have to pay a premium of £85 million, to secure his services.
The 21-year-old joined Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of around £4 million. And he has established himself as one of the most promising young players in the Premier League. It is no surprise that Brighton are looking to demand a substantial fee of £85 million for him.
Caicedo has the attributes to develop into a world-class midfielder, and Liverpool could certainly use someone like him. Recent reports have pointed towards the Reds preparing an offer to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder.
The midfield unit has been a major concern for Liverpool this season, with key players struggling to hit top form and players suffering from a number of persistent injury problems as well. Meanwhile, the Reds will face competition from Newcastle United and Chelsea as well.
Both teams need to improve their midfield options, and Caicedo would be a superb acquisition for all three clubs. Chelsea might have to replace players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the summer, and the 21-year-old Brighton ace would be a quality alternative.
Graham Potter knows all about the player having worked with him at Brighton, and it will be interesting to see if he can convince the Ecuador international to snub a move to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals and move to Stamford Bridge instead.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe is looking to bring in a quality partner for Bruno Guimaraes, and the 21-year-old seems like an ideal fit. Newcastle and Chelsea certainly have the finances to pay the reported £85 million asking price. But Liverpool might struggle if Brighton do not scale down their demands.

And all three clubs would represent an excellent step up in his career. Furthermore, managers like Klopp, Potter, and Howe could help him improve and fulfill his tremendous potential in the coming seasons.
