Apparently, the Blues will have to pay €120 million to sign the 21-year-old midfielder, and the player is keen on moving to Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea are looking to structure the payments, and it will be interesting to see if Benfica are prepared to accept their offer.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool are not willing to pay the asking price for the 21-year-old World Cup winner despite links with a move to Anfield.

Enzo Fernandez is highly rated around Europe, and he has the potential to develop into a world-class midfielder in the near future. If Chelsea manage to sign the 21-year-old in the coming weeks, it would be a club-record transfer for them.

It is no surprise that Chelsea are ready to spend big money on their midfield, especially with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the last year of their respective contract with the west London club. Both players will be free agents in the summer, and Chelsea will need to replace them properly.

The Blues have been linked with players like Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice as well. It will be interesting to see if they look to make a move for either of those players after signing Fernandez. However, it is fair to assume that Rice and Bellingham are unlikely to move this month. So Chelsea will have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign them.

The Blues will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title soon, and Todd Boehly seems determined to improve his squad. The Chelsea co-owner invested heavily during the summer transfer window, and the Blues are set to bring in the necessary reinforcements in January as well.

Apart from Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea are looking to sign a defender and Benoit Badiashile is expected to join the club from AS Monaco. The Blues have also secured the signing of Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos. Chelsea are currently fighting for a place in the top four, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure Champions League qualification after a poor start to the season.
