Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is reportedly keen on joining Chelsea amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have opened talks with Benfica regarding Enzo Fernandez. Apparently, the Blues are ready to offer a huge fee in order to sign the 21-year-old midfielder. And the youngster is keen on joining Chelsea amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Apparently, the Blues are planning to offer a substantial amount of money instead of paying the midfielder’s release clause in one go. Fernandez has reportedly agreed to join Chelsea, and it will be interesting to see if Benfica are prepared to accept the offer from the Blues. The 21-year-old has a release clause of €120 million, and Chelsea will have to shatter their transfer record to sign him.

The 21-year-old central midfielder joined Benfica in the summer, and he has been a key player for them. Fernandez has the attributes to develop into a superstar in the future, and it seems that his performances have convinced Chelsea to part with a significant amount of money in the coming weeks.

Enzo Fernandez was one of the best young players at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and he was rightly chosen as the Best Young Player of the tournament. There is no doubt that he is already playing at a high level, and he will be a superb acquisition for Chelsea in the short term as well as the long term.

The Blues might have to replace key players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the summer. Both players will be free agents at the end of the season if they do not renew terms. The midfielder is thought to be a target for Liverpool and Manchester United as well. Liverpool are expected to lose a number of midfielders at the end of the season, and Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing the Argentine international.
